Fight against Anti-Semitism

Anti-Semitism is a real issue and needs to be included in anti-racist movements

March in New York City to show solidarity against Anti-Semitism

Quote from ADL: "ADL will be on the front lines, in solidarity against anti-Semitism with communities across the country and partners in this fight. We invite people from across the region to stand with us and say no to hate and no to fear"

What is Anti-Semitism?

Anti-Semitism is hostility towards or discrimination against Jewish people as a religious or racial group.

"But the Holocaust is over therefore so is Anti-Semitism" Wrong! Sadly Anti-Semitism is still prevalent is today's society and numbers have been increasing

There were 2,107 hate crimes against Jewish people nationwide in 2019 a 12% increase from the 1,879 incidents recorded in 2018. There were 1,127 harassment incidents, there were 919 vandalism incidents (many including Swastikas on peoples homes and synagogues), and there were 61 assault incidents.

Anti-Semitism ranges from stereotypes and microaggressions to vandalism and Violent attacks

Some stereotypes include "All Jews control the media", "All Jews are greedy". Some microagressions include "You're attractive for a Jew!", "Your parents must be rich!" These stereotypes and microagressions are harmful and lead to hate against the jewish community. Violent attacks include vandalisms, the tree of life shooting, jersey city shooting, charlottesville, pittsburgh shooting, and stabbings in nyc.

Look at the image above this is how all Jewish people look like right? NO!

Another misconception is that all Jews are white this isn't true! There are many Black and poc Jews that are often not represented in The Jewish community because of white washing. There are Sephardic Jews which come from Spanish and Portuguese descent, Mizrahi Jews from Middle Eastern descent, Beta Israel Jews which are Jews of Ethiopia, and there are many more communities of non-white Jews around the world.

The Jewish community stands with you but when will you stand with the Jewish community?

The Jewish community fights for and supports others yet nobody fights for the Jewish community. Anti-Semitism is often not seen as a real issue and not included in anti-racist movements. The number of hate crimes against Jews has been increasing yet is extremely underreported by the media. Those who stand out against racism, bigotry, sexism, homophobia often exclude Anti-Semitism because it's not seen as a real issue. Jewish people represent only 0.2% of the population and can't fight this fight alone. At the end of the day all hate is hate and if you're excluding Anti-Semitism you're not anti-hate but for it.
